Pop singer Jordy recently sat down to discuss a book that completely changed his life. He chose the gripping psychological thriller I Let You Go by Claire Mackintosh.

This book mattered deeply because it reignited Jordy’s love for reading. He found it during a very dark emotional period in late 2023. The intense story offered him a much-needed escape.

A shocking twist in the novel shattered his expectations. It forced him to look at the characters with a new sense of empathy.

Special Preview: The Shocking Truth of Jenna Gray

Jenna Gray is a woman trying to rebuild her life in a quiet seaside town. The reader is led to believe she is a grieving mother. Her young son was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident.

A sudden police arrest completely changes the story. Jenna is actually not the mother. She was the driver of the car.

This stunning plot twist left Jordy completely floored. He had to reread the entire first part of the book. He realized his assumptions were wrong all along.

Key Insights from Jordy’s Journey:

  • Fiction Builds Empathy: Stepping into a character’s shoes teaches us to feel for others. It helps us understand complex human struggles.
  • Learn to Love Your Own Company: You do not need constant validation from others to feel whole. True peace comes from within.
  • Anger is a Valid Emotion: It is healthy to express your anger. You can use art to release painful memories.

“I Let You Go changed my life because it brought me out of myself.” — Jordy

Finding Clarity in the Mess of Life

As a musician, Jordy often faces an unpredictable career path. He spent years searching for reassurance and success. He wanted a partner or a viral moment to feel okay.

The full conversation is available on the Books That Changed My Life YouTube channel.

Reading thrillers helped Jordy process his own past traumas. He survived childhood bullying and a highly toxic working relationship. The book showed him how easily minds can be manipulated.

Jordy eventually learned to let go of toxic people. He built a quiet, safe space for himself. He now reads two books a week to protect his mental health.

Our conversation with Rob Riggle: Manners, Character, and Dale Carnegie further explores how books and storytelling continue to influence public figures and creative culture.

About the Guest: Jordy
